This resource contains a fully editable, simple text, 75-slide PowerPoint presentation on the Fairtrade movement and Fairtrade Fortnight. It is an ideal assembly for primary school aged pupils on Fairtrade Fortnight and World Fair Trade Day.
The PowerPoint explains what Fairtrade is and its positive impact on the lives of farmers and workers in developing countries around the world. It contains hyperlinks to two videos about farmers’ co-operatives - a cocoa co-operative and a banana co-operative. This resource contains an informative and fully editable 70 slide PowerPoint presentation on the Jewish Festival of Passover or Pesach (Hebrew) which is celebrated for seven or eight days in April each year and is a very significant event in Judaism.
The resource focuses on:
Why Passover is celebrated and how it got its name – the ten plagues, the exodus of the Israelites from Egyptian captivity across the Red Sea led by Moses.
The Seder meal – the Seder plate and the symbolic significance of all the foods on the plate - lamb bone, roasted egg, a green vegetable to dip in salt water, bitter herbs and charoset, a paste of fruit, nuts and wine. Other foods at the meal, including matzah, the four cups / glasses of wine and the extra wine goblet for the prophet Elijah.
The rituals followed at the Seder meal – breaking the matzah, reading from the ‘Haggadah’, the Seder cushion to ‘lean’ on. The tradition of the youngest child asking the four questions, the spilling of drops of wine on to the plate.
The PowerPoint contains two hyperlinks. One to a short 4 minute animated version of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and a 4-minute pop / rap of the Seder meal which should appeal to teenagers!

The simulation has 8 scenarios. Groups of pupils are required to make decisions/take actions. Some of the scenarios are accompanied by a timer with dramatic music playing to simulate the confusion in which refugees have to make quick decisions. Sample scenarios include:
Scenario 1 - War has broken out. Members of the group have to leave home and are required to choose 6 items to take with them.
Scenario 4 - The truck runs out of fuel and members of the group have to walk. To make the journey easier everyone has to take the heaviest item out of their bag to make it lighter.
Scenario 7 – The man with the boat wants payment. The group must give any money they have to him. If they have no money they have to give him their most valuable item.
